Food & Drink in Lincoln
You will find an abundance of food and drink in Lincoln. With so fantastic dining options, the city is a must visit for foodies. You'll find everything from fast food to afternoon teas on offer, with something to suit every palate.
Although you will spot some familiar restaurants in Lincoln, it is our independent businesses we’re fiercely proud of. Top pizza spots like Slow Rise and Dough Loco will have you in a spin, whilst stylish restaurants like the White Horse, No38 at the Tower and The Old Bakery are helping to establish Lincoln as a fine dining destination.
You’ll discover more small businesses at the Cornhill Market and Stack. Bursting with different flavours, these new foodie hubs are full of unique options. From loaded fries piled high with toppings, to towering cones of authentic Italian gelato, you will find a vast selection of tasty titbits on offer.
Fancy a drink?
We’re not a fast paced city, and there’s nothing we love more than relaxing with a brew. Whether you prefer a traditional greasy spoon or an Instagrammable café, you’ll find plenty of brilliant places to enjoy a good cuppa.
For a coffee with a view, head to the Lincoln Cathedral Café, Langtons at Lincoln Castle or Coffee at the Arch - the alfresco area here overlooks the Roman Newport Arch. Situated on Steep Hill, tearooms like Bell’s and Bunty’s provide a welcoming stop-off for weary walkers, whilst trendy spots like Coffee Depot and Vestry Coffee are perfect for coffee connoisseurs.
If you fancy a “proper” drink, you will find a plethora of pubs and bars in Lincoln, each offering an entirely different experience. From low-lit boozers to stylish cocktail bars, you will find the perfect haunt here.
For local ales, pubs like The Strugglers, The Cardinal’s Hat and The Victoria have got you covered. If you like your pint with a side of history, try The Morning Star, The Lion & Snake or The Adam & Eve Tavern. Just a stone’s throw from Lincoln Cathedral, this pub has been serving punters since 1701!
Alongside some of your favourite big name bars, you will also find some amazing independents hidden off the High Street. If you’ve got someone to impress, Cognito, The Pessimist and Vice & Co are great for a date. If you like your martini served with a side of music, a visit to the Lincoln Jazz Café is a must.
Love Local
As Lincolnshire is one of the largest food-producing counties in the UK, it’s safe to say we’re pretty passionate about our local produce.
You’ll find Lincolnshire specialities on offer at eateries across the county. Many a menu will feature the famous Lincolnshire sausage, the award-winning Poacher Cheese and the finest cuts of Lincolnshire Red Beef.
We’re also a dab hand at producing delicious drinks too. Visit one of our many independent pubs and you’re sure to spot creations by Lincoln Gin, Louth Distillery and Batemans Brewery behind the bar.
If coffee is more your thing, you won’t be disappointed. Stokes, 200 Degrees and Seven Districts all roast their delicious brews locally. Stop by one of these cafes and you can enjoy the freshest cup of coffee around – alongside a selection of delicious, homemade treats.
From Farm to Fork
We believe our local producers deserve to be championed and there are a number of farm shops where you can sample their goods.
Doddington Hall has an award-winning shop and café, featuring produce grown and reared on their estate. To the north of Lincoln, Uncle Henry’s Farmshop, Butchery and Café is a showcase for the best in Lincolnshire food.
If provenance is important to you, look no further than Redhill Farm. This family-run business produced free-range pork, lamb and grass-fed beef, alongside award-winning sausages, black pudding, and haslet (another Lincolnshire speciality!)
You can also sample some of Lincolnshire’s homegrown produce at Farmers' Markets across the county. In Lincoln, the Farmers' Market takes place in Castle Square, on the third Saturday of the month. Here, you will not only have the opportunity to try some delicious local food and drink, you can also meet the maker responsible for it.
