Once a powerful centre of industry and wealth, this small city has a big back story. As you follow in the footsteps of royalty at Lincoln Castle, experience the towering heights of Lincoln Cathedral and explore the ruins of the Medieval Bishops’ Palace, you’ll discover the history of Lincoln lies within every stone.
If you want to learn more about Lincoln’s past, the city is home to some fantastic museums. The Lincoln Museum offers a unique insight into the origins of the county, whereas The Museum of Lincolnshire Life celebrates our culture, heritage and people. You can take a deep dive into the past at the Lincoln Cathedral Exhibition Gallery, or experience the magic of the Magna Carta Vault at Lincoln Castle.
There’s even more history to uncover in Lincoln’s green spaces. The city has an abundance of parks and gardens, many of which boast a fascinating past. You’ll discover Victorian landscaping in Lincoln Arboretum, a Roman defence system in Temple Gardens, and a former race course at the West Common.

Whichever season you visit, these incredible green spaces will make you feel like you’re in the heart of the countryside, without even leaving the city.
